College counselor Mrs. Brandi Ribble has spent a lot of time working for what she wants.

She graduated from The University of Arkansas and is ready to start a new journey at McKinney High.

“I got two bachelors degrees,” Mrs.Ribble said. “So it took me 5 years”

She has lots of experience counseling teens and relating to their problems from Upward Bound.

“I’ve been counseling for 5 years now,” Mrs.Ribble said. “I started in college.”

Although she didn’t know what she had a desire for, she found Upward Bound as an outlet.

“I was like any other student that didn’t know what they wanted to do,” Mrs. Ribble said. “I actually found Upward Bound and started working there as their admin. assistant.”

Upward Bound was a great help to start her career.

“They basically do what I do, but they do it a little more intense,” Mrs.Ribble said. “Students come to campus and they live with you, and I found my passion there.”

Mrs. Ribble is excited to be welcomed into a new school.

“I’ve been looking for a job in Dallas for almost a year and a half now doing what I’m doing,” Mrs.Ribble said. “I was really excited when I got this job.”

She was steady hit with promotions with the Upward Bound Organization, but she found her way to McKinney High.

“I was actually with Upward Bound,” Mrs. Ribble said. “I had got moved up to an academic counselor.”

Mrs. Ribble was completely unaware of what her future was holding.

“I had no idea what I wanted to do,” Mrs.Ribble said. “So I just chose two majors that interested me and was like hopefully this will lead me down somewhere, and it did so that plan worked.”

It’s a big change from Upward Bound, but she has adjusted well.

“It is a huge high school,” Mrs. Ribble said.  “It’s a lot of people and places to remember, but everyone has been really nice and welcoming.”
