The school is under construction because of the growing population of the city.
Along with renovating sections of the school, classroom space will also be added.
“The new edition to C Hall is going to be a career and technologies hall,” Associate Principal Jimmy Bowser said. “There is going to be a court for Criminal Justice and some Art classes down there as well as a Library.”
The lockers will be taken out of the hallways for more room and the Daycare Center will be moved to the old library to give it more of a central location.
“Students did not seem to be using the lockers given,” Principal Bowser said. “So they are more of a distraction than anything else.”
When construction is done, the school will hold a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the renovations.
“There is going to be a big ribbon cutting ceremony and we might even have a student cut the ribbon,” Bowser said. “I think Dr. Faris would agree to that. He’s just that kind of guy.”
The Ribbon cutting ceremony will occur in the spring of 2014. Dr. Kennedy and other administrators will attend.
Although the ceremony is in the spring, the construction will be finished by January 2014.
