Volleyball will match up against cross-town rival McKinney North tomorrow night. Both school’s volleyball coaches collaborated with the Side Out Foundation to raise money for breast cancer awareness
The week leading up to the “Dig-Pink” volleyball game will include fundraising efforts. Dig pink T-shirts, bracelets, and other pink items have been for sale all week long. Pledged donations pending on however many digs that the volleyball team gets will also be accepted.
Besides the athletic match-up, the two schools will compete to see who can raise the most money. Last year, McKinney High raised a total of $2,257 for breast cancer research.
Although the traditional pink out football game was cancelled, the volleyball Dig-Pink was able to remain scheduled.
“Because volleyball season begins before football, this event was already scheduled before the decision to eliminate pink out football was made,” coach Ramona Wible said.
Since the dig-pink game was brought to MHS four years ago, it has been played consecutively against McKinney North High School so the schools can compare donations.
The Dig-Pink game next year might be against a team other than North.
“We want to bring back the orange battle,” Wible said.
