Lions go 3-1 in Prosper tournament

The first game in the Prosper Tournament, the Lions went against Little Elm high school. The Lions were very active on defense during the first half of the game with multiple steals, turnovers and 10 fouls against the Lobos. By the end of the third quarter, the lions led 53-44. The Lions played well until the fourth quarter when the Lobos came back from a nine-point lead to make it a two-point game, with the score at 67-65. The Lobos made a late three-pointer, making the score 67-68 with 10.8 seconds left. E.J Clark drove the ball to the hoop, but unfortunately, the ball bounced off the rim. The Lions fell short with a final score of 67-68.

The second game of the tournament was against Flower Mound Marcus. The Lions were down early in the first half 25-31. After the third quarter, the Lions got on a roll and closed out the game, 65-61.

The third game was against Frisco Wakeland. The Lions took the lead early on and never looked back. Every player on the team ended up on the court and the team was lights out from the three-point line, making 5 straight 3 pointers in the 3rd quarter. The Lions won 72-56.

The fourth and final game was against The Colony. At the end of the first quarter, it was a tied game, 12-12. By the end of the first half, the Lions had the lead at 35-26. The Wolverines kept it close for the rest of the game but the Lions kept the lead by hitting most of their free throws. They were 22-29 from the free throw line. The Lions won 70-64.

Junior Alex Vilarino was awarded first team all tournament. Lions are now hold a 3 game win streak as they go on to face Fort Worth Paschal in the Keller Tournament, Thursday December 11.
