Students and faculty will participate in lip dub

The Lip Dub will be held on Friday, October 19th during sixth and seventh period.

A lip dub is a music video involving students as well as staff members. A group of journalism students selected “We Built This City,” by Starship as the song. The song was chosen for the obvious construction going on and it was a hit single during the time the school was built in 1986.

“I think it’s a good time in school to do it. With the football team doing so well, everyone has school spirit; I think it’s great,” yearbook adviser Lori Oglesbee said. “McKinney High is the only MISD school to do a lip dub.”

The people in the lip dub were selected because of their dynamic leadership in a sport or organization.

“I guess I’m excited as long as I don’t embarrass myself, which I will end up doing,” Taylor Hobart said.

The majority of the singers are seniors, but it will still include juniors and lowerclassmen.

“I think it’s a really great idea, and I’m glad that I was picked out of the sophomore class to be a singer in the Lip Dub,” Sophomore Maddie Dodd said.

Each sport or organization will have something that represents themselves during the shooting of the Lip Dub. FFA will have pigs and sheep outside their classroom during the take of the video.

“It’s going to be interesting seeing all of the pigs hanging out in the hallway while they’re waiting to get filmed,” Maddi Hembd said.

With Dr. Farris’ approval, Oglesbee, Catherine Festa and Jackie Harrison determined the route of the Lip Dub.

“The route depended on how far we could get in four minutes from E-hall to the Natatorium,” said Harrison.

If a sport or organization does not have an idea to sponsor themselves they will be in the gymnasium at the end of the video wearing blue and gold.

“I truly believe this will be something you tell your grandchildren about,” Oglesbee said.
