To equal out team spirit, the cheer squat split up between girls and boys basket ball games.
“We split up the squad so that each team has at least one captain and one girl from each grade,” senior cheer captain Adria Packard said. “The room on the court is so much better with less girls.”
The squad doesn’t tumble and stunt, so the split doesn’t affect the team as much.
“Cheering is easier now and more comfortable,” Adria said. “The spacing used to be very tough. We stay close to the crowd and try our best to pump them up for the game.”
To start off each game, the girls form a tunnel to welcome the players onto the court and bring up their spirit to start the game.
“The players work incredibly so they can win every game and knowing they’re putting heart and body into every second is the whole reason we cheer,” Adria said. “We’re proud of them and love seeing them succeed and represent our school through their incredible talent.”
