The Addams Family Musical is set to have its opening night on Nov. 13, where fine arts students will gather in the PAC to bring the bizarre cast of characters to life.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Admission is free for school staff by showing their ID at the door. Tickets will be sold online here. Nov. 14 will be an ASL interpreted performance, for the best seats to view the interpreter, customers should select seats in the Floor House Right front section.
“I think this year we have a really talented group of people that are putting on this musical,” junior Shane Holland said . “They’re all great singers and actors, and I think it’s really cool to see them all working together to put on this play. We’re going to do really well this year.”
Head director Jessica Lawrence leads the actors and the stage’s progression of the story itself. Technical director Bethany Moczygemba helps the technical crew run lights, sound and all the extra touches that bring the show to life.
“I think that the musical’s production has been done well, with how well organized everything is,” said sophomore Anna Collins, member of the tech crew. “The biggest challenge I’ve endured so far, though, has been the sheer number of costumes I’ve had to make.”
The actors will bring classic characters to life, like Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Grandma and more.
“My role is playing Grandma in the play,” senior Hailey Garms said. “I have a big, fake butt and my wig is huge. It’s four times as large in my head, and it’s about two pounds. I’m also getting used to having to walk like a grandma, having to sound like a grandma. Everything I do has to be cooky, crazy, old and grounded.”
This musical is one of the only times a year where members from all of the Fine Arts programs, including band, orchestra, dance and theatre, put on a production together.
“A selected few from band are going to be a part of the Pit Crew this year,” said sophomore Anneliese Kowaleski, tech crew and band member. “I believe that for one of the shows, there will be a time where the band comes in and plays while the actors are in the midst of performing.”
