Playing Christmas and classical songs, orchestra will host a winter concert Thursday at 7 p.m. in the PAC for free.
Orchestra has prepared for this concert over the past few months. Orchestra hopes to spread holiday spirit and showoff skills they’ve worked towards.
“We don’t just like to keep it in our orchestra, but to share it with other people by hosting a lot of concerts,” senior Ruth Kiija said.
Orchestra prepared for the concert in and outside of class. Orchestra assistant director Mr. Jacob Cortez asked the students to practice for the winter concert at home.
“I think that this year I’ve been less stressed about preparing,” Ruth said. “I feel like my orchestra director, Jacob Cortez, did a great job at kind of preparing us in class and helping us be able to practice by ourselves.”
At the concert, the different orchestras will play some holiday songs including ‘The Dargason’ and ‘Vivaldi.’ Orchestra is known for its “strong community,” Ruth said.
“I love the experience of everyone playing together for the final time,” Ruth said. “Playing that song for the last time and looking over to my stand partner, and they’re playing the same thing as me and sometimes we know it sounds as good as we play. It’s just very satisfying.”
