A new face for Headhunters
October 7, 2014
He is the one with the killer dance moves, outstanding personality and amazing school sprit. Now, sophomore, Noah Metzger, will go down as being the first underclassmen Headhunter in McKinney High history.
As the first sophomore in Headhunter history, Noah just wanted to make a name for himself.
“At first I was a little intimidated, because I thought there were going to be other sophomores,” Noah said. “But the upper classmen didn’t know a lot of the sophomores so they were cool with it.”
The football player weren’t the only ones with pre game jitters.
“The first game was scary actually,” Noah said. “I had to run the flag with the M on it at the beginning of the game, and I didn’t want to go down as the sophomore who tripped with the flag.”
As a Headhunter, Noah has many responsibilities, such as getting the student section into the game.
“Everyone relies on us to get the school going.” Noah said. “It’s awesome when we get everyone amped for the game, and it’s the best when the drum line comes because that’s when we go the craziest.”
An additional change that the Headhunters have faced is introducing their new Headhunter sponsor, Mr. Michael Helms.
“I myself like to cheer on school functions and teams here, so I thought I would be good being a leader for a group of guys who want to cheer on the teams.” Mr. Helms said. “The more pep, the better spirit we can have for our school.”
The senior Headhunters gave this year’s new sponsor, Mr. Michael Helms, the idea to bring a sophomore into the Headhunter community.
“Because it’s Noah I was fine of the idea.” Mr. Helms said. “He’s super awesome and a very confident young man for a sophomore.”
Bringing in a sophomore for the first time isn’t the only change that has been made by Mr. Helms.
“We do a thematic thing every game like one game we will have a Hawaiian theme and another game crazy hats theme.”
Noah brings his own style to Headhunters that is unlike what the school has ever seen.
“The biggest thing is that he brings a lot of energy and is not at all shy about being in front of people and being great.” Mr. Helms said
The other Headhunters like having the little guy around, because he brings a new way of expressing sprit for this year’s headhunters.
“He is super outgoing and its fun to have him with us” junior, Clayton Knowles, said. “As long if you do the part, be outgoing and pump up the crowd, then we want you.”
