Future Farmers of America (FFA) had a convention in Indianapolis the week of Oct. 22.
64,000 students from 51 other states participated in the convention along with three MHS students.
Sophomore Paxton Knies and juniors Ashlee Daniels and Zach McHughes qualified for the convention because of their officer positions in the FFA class and applications they submitted. Nine students turned in applications, but only three got to go to the convention.
At the convention, FFA students receive awards for past accomplishments and meet other FFA members from across the country.
“It felt really good to be able to go,” Knies said. “ It made me feel important.”
Students received lessons from the National Officers about what it takes to be a Future Farmer of America and a true leader.
“Going to the convention taught me to be a better leader” Knies said, “it was very inspiring.”
