The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released the cutoff numbers for the 2014 – 2016 school years on Monday, Dec. 2.
McKinney High School, which reported a student population 2,076 on Oct. 25, will be in the new 5A class, which ranges from schools with student populations 1,060 to 2,099.
The new 5A class will be comprised of the current 4A class. Instead of “staying” 5A, McKinney High will fall back down to a lower classification with schools like McKinney North and Prosper.
Next year’s competitive districts will be announced in early February.
