Violent video games raise questions about their effects on students

Violence in Video Games from Manestream News on Vimeo.

It’s no secret that the video game community is one of the most toxic communities out there. On September 17, 2013 Gamespot released it’s review of Grand Theft Auto V; they gave the game a 9 out of 10 and said that their only complaint was of the portrayal of women in the game. In mere days comment after comment was posted saying things like “It’s just a video game, it doesn’t matter!” This is the same community that will turn around and call Bioshock: Infinite an artistic masterpiece. However, the games industry can’t have it both ways. Either video games are art, and they should be held accountable for what they say, or they’re just video games and anything they say should be ignored.
