The homecoming parade is Saturday Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The parade, which will go around the downtown McKinney square, will feature student-made floats from different clubs and organizations. However, one major organization will not participate, unlike previous years.
The Royal Pride Band will attend their UIL competition during the parade.
“We are going to State this year,” senior band president Sam Johnson said. “Our first step to getting there is UIL.”
Instead of a live performance, there will be a recording of the band playing the fight song.
“It’s all just really bad timing,” band director Ken Ringel said.
For senior band members, this would have been their last chance to participate in the parade.
“As a senior and it being my last year at MHS, it’s kind of sad not getting to be a part of the homecoming parade,” senior band member Kayla Hill said. “But it’s worth missing.”
