Swing dance club will perform to “Mr. Pinstripe Suit” at the pep rally Friday, Oct. 21. The club began three years ago and has grown to more than 100 members.
“When we first started, the president was a cheerleader,” Adria Packard, president of the club, said, “and my brother was a football player and they just got all of their friends together to spread the word.”
The club practices every Wednesday in the dorm for at least two hours. They practice steps individually and then put it all together with the music.
“We will practice about six times before the pep rally.” Packard said. “We are excited. It’s fun to perform something that not a lot of people are familiar with.”
Mrs. Julie Lee is their sponsor.
“I have been the sponsor for almost a year now and I enjoy it a lot” Lee said. “ My son Zack did it so I sponsored it. I really just sit and observe though.”
They do not compete.
“We really just do it for the fun of it. I feel it will become boring if we competed.” Packard said. “Competitions are just not our thing.’’
