BLOG: Media weekly: week 2

Jacob Frazier

Welcome to week two of this music, TV, and movie blog. This week most of us are still reeling over the end of christmas break and the beginning of school, but that still hasn’t stopped some amazing entertainment from coming into light.

Album of the week-Bastille’s VS.

bastille

With its upbeat background music, intriguing lyrics, and mesmerizing chorals this relatively new album, Bastille shows of their ability to adapt to the fast changing music industry. This is an album that shows the true nature of this long to last band.

Song of the week-Molly’s Children of the Universe

This British singer songwriter used this award winning song to represent Britain at the 2014 Eurovision song contest. This indie style song fits into the current music fad  along with a rhythmic drum background, insightful lyrics, and unique music video

New movie of the week- American Sniper

With a more non-traditional view on foreign land war, American Sniper presents not only an action filled plot, but also moral dilemmas many an connect to. this movie adds an intriguing idea of war not only taking the soldiers point of view, but also his families making an all around fantastic movie.

Netflix binges-Dan Cummin’s Crazy with a Capital F

F

This stand up comedy(the album is pictured and linked) presents one of the best laughs you will have in a very long time. This show goes from 0-100 very quickly, but presents a very different turn on comedy. though it is a bit dark for some, if your up for it this comedy will split your sides right open.

Movie to watch-The Family

With a non traditional view of the mafia life, The Family offers an action riddled movie focused on an ex-mobster and his family. With enough comedy and underlining universal messages about love, this movie has everything on the board. With something for everyone, this movie is a spectacular hit.

Tv to watch-Galavant

With a rather different view on classical times, this new comedy show is full of gut busting laughter and action to fill any fans desire. and something more to throw us off, its a musical of all things. So drop whatever you are doing this sunday to watch this amazing show. Plus it has Ricky Gervais, so whats not to like?

What to avoid-Taken 3

With a horrifically terrible script, slow and predictable plot, cliched characterization, lifeless action and a script that isn’t worth the paper its written on Taken 3 epitomizes the need to end movie series early before an atrocity like this shows its face.

With half of the student body still asleep from Christmas break, some ideas to wake us up are in order. These songs will hopefully bring some life to the currently dead students walking the halls.

Song to wake you up-Fall Out Boy’s Centuries

centuries

This incredibly fast paced song is sure to get just about every listeners adrenaline rushing and blood pumping. With its foot tapping pop-orchestral background, near perfect vocals, and insightful lyrics this new coming song is sure to keep in the record books for… ahem … centuries*bad dum tss*.

Song to mellow your mind-Hozier’s Take Me to Church

take me to church

This is not the song for every readers ears as it is dark, but this deeply reflective song mixes its rustic acoustic guitar beat, modern folk chorals, and lyrics insightful enough to give a man an  existential crisis. Though it has caused controversy, that is easily overlooked in this amazing song.

Songs to carry you through the day-Mumford and Sons’ I Will Wait

i will waitThis neo-folk band is famously known for their upbeat music with meaningful lyrics, and with their son I Will Wait, they don’t disappoint. This banjo laced folk rong song is one to surely get even the most exhausted person back to normal, and for the student body, that is a high necessity.
